Design a new line of race products for Bell Racing

Racing force (the parent company of Bell Racing) hired me to do a design study for them. The goal of this project was to design a racing product line that included a race suit, gloves, and shoes. Some of the design aesthetic were inspired by motocross’ bold graphics. It was also important to keep safety at the forefront for the racing suit. The epaulettes have been designed to help a safety crew pull a driver out of a car after a crash. However recent designs have focused more on aesthetics as opposed to focusing on function. We wanted to change that.

To improve the functionality of the epaulettes I moved the location to the upper chest. I also used an accent color so they would stand out from the rest of the race suit. This will allow safety crews to easily identify the epaulettes to comfortably grip and remove drivers from a crash.

I also wanted the pull tabs to be consistent across all the different products including the race suit collar, belt, the tongue of the shoes, and the gauntlet of the gloves.
